The law graduate expelled by the Nigerian Law School (NLS), Kayode Bello has filed a suit before a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking his recall to the school.

In an originating summons brought by his lawyer, Ademuluyi Ayo, the expelled student is seeking an order to enforce his fundamental rights as a citizen under chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution and other international laws.

Bello had accused the school of “continuous threat, intimidation and unjust victimization.”

He is also seeking for the sum of N10 million in damages following alleged molestations by the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

The Nigerian Law School, Bwari, FCT had in a statement by its spokesman Chinedu Ukekwe recently  said the school expelled the student for misconduct while on campus. 

The school had admitted the student despite receiving report of the conduct of the student for which he was rusticated from the University of Ibadan in the 2008/2009 Academic Session for “disrupting the peace and tranquility of the University Campus.”

Ukekwe stated that rather than commence his programme in 2012, the Council of Legal Education decided to admit him for the 2016/2017 academic session on probation, subject to good character.

The school regretted that the student began to disrupt activities on campus and hostel of the school sometime in March 2017 when he had a quarrel with a fellow student.

He said the student refused to receive queries issued to him on several occasions and instead petitioned the Police, United Nations and the Amnesty International accusing the school of bias.
