A consultant Ophthalmologist, Doctor Taoheed Abdullahi has attributed lack of adequate funding in the health sector to the dearth of advanced technology in handling health conditions in Nigeria.
Doctor Abdullahi who is of the Kwara State Eye Care Programme Sobi Specialist Hospital, Ilorin said enough qualified health practitioners abound in the country to perform all forms of medical services, but  the failure of government to abundantly fund the sector had made them remain docile. He called on government at all levels to fund the health sector and provide modern equipment to encourage medical practitioners perform to the optimal capacity.
He also  advised people to avoid self medication when it comes to the care of the eye, pointing out that those who do such predispose themselves to more eye complications.
