Finance and treasury professional, Eyinade Wasiu, has emphasized the importance of strategic capital control and efficient working capital management as key tools for sustaining business stability amid global market volatility and foreign exchange challenges.
Wasiu, whose experience spans treasury operations, cash flow management, and foreign exchange administration, said that businesses must take a proactive approach to liquidity management and financial planning to remain competitive in today’s fast-changing economy.
He noted that fluctuating exchange rates and constrained access to foreign currency in Nigeria and other African markets continue to pose risks to corporate operations. According to him, organizations can mitigate such risks through structured foreign exchange management, effective bidding processes, and consistent monitoring of cash positions to ensure liquidity.
Wasiu’s work focuses on supporting chief financial officers (CFOs) in managing treasury operations, bank relations, and compliance documentation such as certificates of capital importation and loan agreements. He said that well-coordinated cash planning allows companies to meet foreign-denominated obligations and optimize the use of available capital.
He also highlighted the growing role of technology in finance, advocating for automation and fintech integration to improve billing, collection, and reconciliation processes. He explained that the use of enterprise systems such as ERP software helps strengthen internal controls, enhance transparency, and speed up financial operations.
In addition to treasury and cash management, Wasiu underscored the importance of revenue assurance and receivables tracking in maintaining a healthy balance sheet. He said that timely invoicing, effective collections, and adherence to credit policies are critical to preventing revenue leakages and ensuring sustainable growth.
He further emphasized the role of finance business partnering — where finance teams work closely with operations and management — to translate data into actionable insights for decision-making. Through regular reviews, forecasting, and budget coordination, he said, organizations can better align financial strategy with broader business goals.
Wasiu added that strengthening internal processes and maintaining accuracy in financial reporting are essential for building investor confidence and supporting long-term growth. He called for continued collaboration between finance professionals, technology providers, and regulators to promote transparency and resilience across the corporate sector.
