A lecturer in the Electrical Engineering Department of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Shehu Yakubu, has said extra battery chargers for mobile phone called power banks are hazardous because they can explode due to inefficient circuit design.
He said ‘’A good circuit design ensures that the power bank is well equipped to the dependable.”
He also said the use of materials such as cheap lithium-ion in assembling the batteries is another factor that could cause explosion.
“Mishandling or improper battery usage can also lead to explosion,” he said.
