The expert, Dr. James Ajari, of the Medical Health Centre, Federal Polytechnic, Bida, gave the warning in an interview, noting that the social media gives people the power to share, interact and makes world more open and connected.
However, he said that despite playing positive roles, the social media could be dangerous to health when one is addicted to, and cannot do without, it.
“Being addicted to social media might not give one room to even think about his or her studies and this can affect such person’s sense of reasoning and well being,” he said.
