Explore arts, to reduce unemployment — Chukwumerije

The Nigerian Spoken word and performing poetry artist, Dike Chukwumerije has advised governments at all levels to explore the potentials in the creative industry,  especially in the area of arts and craft to reduce the menace of youth unemployment.

Chukwerije made the call at his  2018 annual poetry and theatre production, tagged: “Made in Nigeria” which was sponsored by MTN and hosted in Lagos.

“If all of us keep becoming doctors, lawyers and bankers, the economy can never be diversified. You cannot diversify the economy from the top but from the bottom by having people with the courage to follow their passion” Dike said.

“The Arts and craft in Nigeria can create more jobs if government can look into it. It is a viable option for creating jobs in this economy for highly talented young people in the arts and crafts industry,” the performing artist said.

The Chief Operating Officer, MTN Nigeria, Mazen Mroue said.

“We are very much impressed by the amount of young talented individuals in Nigeria. We call on all other enterprises to join MTN in supporting Arts and culture in Nigeria.”
