An explosion has rocked Gombe, the capital of Gombe state on Monday shortly after President Goodluck Jonathan finished his campaign rally in the town.

Daily Trust learnt an explosion occurred at the Gombe Water Board Corporation few minutes after the president’s convoy passed the area. Jonathan had addressed party supporters at the nearby Patami Stadium as part of his re-election campaign rallies.

Gombe town had been largely locked down since morning as security operatives restricted movement of people in most part of the town.

On Sunday, two separate explosions killed five people and injured others in the town including two suicide bombers.
