A bomb has exploded at Kasuwan Kuturu, a crowded market in Mubi town in Adamawa State, killing one person.
Residents said a woman died and three persons sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the General Hospital Mubi.
Hospital sources revealed that a woman died of shock while two men were treated of burns and related injuries after the bomb exploded at the market which attract people from the wider area.
“A woman died from shock while two persons received treatment at the hospital but were taken home by their relatives”, the source added.
An eye witness, Abubakar Garba revealed that the incident caused stampede in the town as residents scampered to safety, saying rumours that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder were not true.
“It was a bomb that detonated in the market today, few people were injured and a woman died. Kasuwan Kuturu market is the most populated market in Mubi and today is the market day”, he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Command DSP Abubaker Othman said the blast was as a result of a roadside bomb and there was no casualty recorded in the incident.
A bomb had killed 14 people and injured several others at a bar and viewing center in Mubi barely three weeks ago.
