The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has on Wednesday donated sealing machines to 10 clusters of spices producers in Kano as part of the council’s intervention programme aimed at encouraging and empowering the operators to attain a level of meeting up the international standard for easy exportation of their finished products.

Speaking during the hand-over ceremony of the intervention, NEPC regional coordinator North-West Hajiya Amina Abdulmalik stated that the council has observed that the spices industry has been doing a lot hence the need for the council to wade in and support them to scale up their products standard as well as to increase the quality of their products to meet-up international standards.

“It will interest you to note that there are spices from here that are being exported to countries as far as Canada. That is why we are assisting those that couldn’t meet up the standard with the basic processing skills and update their finishing skills to meet the set international standard,” she revealed.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malama Binta Hussain revealed that, support they have been receiving from the council has enabled them to package and market their products effectively. She added that their products had succeeded in pushing out the imported spices from Nigerian markets.

“We have succeeded in dominating the Nigerian market, our target now is the international market and with the skills we have acquired and the support we have received, we would be heading to the international market,” she said.
