Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has continued to maintain a leading position in ensuring the safety and security of air passengers in the country’s aviation sector.

FAAN was last week presented with Mr. President’s prestigious award for its excellent service delivery and for its leading position on security and safety matters at our airports while another award was given to it for its compliance with laid down international rules and regulations applicable to all airports. The agency has within the past few years consistently given priority attention to security, safety passenger comfort and service delivery at the airports since engineer Saleh Dunoma assumed office as its Managing Director.

Since the Abuja international airport run way was commissioned the number of air passengers has doubled, especially with the provision of more facilities aimed at making the airports passenger friendly.

This action together with the face lift of airports and the provision of other facilities by FAAN has tremendously encouraged even the foreign travelers to passionately patronize the country’s airports thereby drastically increasing the number of air passengers and revenue for government.

Apart from remodeling of the 22 airports in the country being managed by FAAN the Buhari government also supported the idea of airports concession of the Abuja and Lagos airports as recommended to it by the minister of aviation and other serious minded groups in the aviation industry in order to sort out the problems identified by stake holders in the sector. The airport concessioning has already been embraced as the most viable option in our current situation of inadequate funds being faced all over the country.

Since he assumed office Engineer Dunoma has put in place lasting legacies which helped his  work force to be more disciplined and motivated, which endeared him to many people within and outside the country’s aviation sector.

Engineer Dunoma who had introduced revolutionary administrative strategies also brought his immense experience in airports management to bear on the provision of facilities at all the 22 airports in the country. He also introduced transparency, due process rule of law and merit in FAAN’s activities.

Close watchers of Engineer Dunoma have predicted good things for him in the future because of his desire to always excel in whatever assignment given to him at all times. He has been described as a competent individual who is believed to be a goal- getter.
