Professor Peter Inetiabor Aziba of Igbinedion University Okada (IOU) has said that most universities are hit by the problem of inadequate facilities.

He said the development is responsible for the low quality research, especially in the study of pharmacology.

Prof. Aziba said this while delivering the 16th inaugural lecture of the university.

“It is rather shameful that no university in Nigeria has a Myograph used in recording vascular work of researchers thereby reducing the quality of research carried out by pharmacologists.”

He urged the National Universities Commission (NUC) to look into the shortcomings of quality research in the nation’s universities, especially in the study of pharmacology in a bid to improve research.

He identified dearth of equipment as the major problem confronting the study of pharmacology, adding that government must give proper and adequate support to NUC.
