Dubawa, the fact-checking arm of Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism, has started intensive training for its 2020 successful fact-checking fellows.
Details of the training released by the officer in charge of the project, Temilade Onilede, revealed that the training slated from July 8 to July 13, 2020, would assist the fellows to tackle misinformation and hold political elites accountable for their words and action.
The six-month Dubawa Fellowship for journalists and academics, which is supported by Heinrich Boll Stiftung Foundation (HBS) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), received 104 applications in 2020, out of which the successful fellows were selected.
Dubawa said the fellowship will assist to “expand the reach of verified information to grassroots communities that are targeted constituencies for political, social and cultural disinformation so they are adequately equipped to hold political elites accountable.”
