Dandam, who said the money was a grant from the World Bank, urged the beneficiaries to utilize it to develop the agricultural resources in the state, saying the amount would be shared among the various Fadama User Groups (FUGs) which make up the benefiting FCAs and who are into different agricultural activities.
‘’The FCAs are made up of between 12 and 15 FUGs who are into crop production, livestock, agro-processing and poultry farming, among others. One of the objectives of the Fadama program is to support rural farmers with the needed capital to build their capacity to make a living out of agricultural activities. I am confident that the beneficiaries will use this money to create wealth and bid goodbye to poverty,” he said.
The coordinator disclosed that the coordination office had a target of financing 102 community associations, adding that with the six new FCAs, the office had so far funded 84 FCAs.
 According to him, the FCAs that benefited from the funds were Haske Women FCA of Jos North local government which got N3.5 million, Kutulu FCA of Bassa local council got N4.7 million, while Munkagak FCA in Kanke council received N3.8 million. Others are Zwangwar FCA in Langtang North council (N3.82 million), Kwa FCA and Kurgwi FCA both from Qua’an Pan councils: N3.7 million) and N3 million respectively.
On his part, Plateau State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Steven Barko, while presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, commended the Fadama National Coordination Office for the gesture and said that Fadama projects in the state were making a huge impact in poverty reduction, especially in the rural areas.
The commissioner added that the program had impacted positively on many youths, women, widows and vulnerable groups and advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds,
