FADAMA III trains 268 graduates on agriculture in Bauchi

Bauchi State FADAMA III Project has ended a 10-day training on agricultural techniques for 268 graduates to boost food production.

The training programme was under the Graduates Unemployed Youth and Women Support Training Programme (GHYS), project manager Ali Garba said on Monday.

Participants trained in livestock production, poultry, fishery and other agricultural related fields at various locations which include; Bauchi State College of Agriculture and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.

Dr. Garba said that 542 candidates applied for the training programme which was being funded by the World Bank under the FADAMA III Additional Financing (AF).

According to him, 200 participants will be assisted with cash ranging between N700,000 and N900,000 after the training to enable them set up agricultural ventures.

The project manager however said that the remaining 68 participants would be linked to financial institutions to enable them secure soft loans adding that participation of the graduates in the programme would boost agricultural production in the country.
