Ahiazu Mbaise LGA chairman, Engineer Chika Ezeji, gave the commendation when the World Bank Team Representative, Mr. Roland Lomme, led by the Imo State FADAMA Coordinator, Hon. Ayo Enwerem, came on inspection tour of FADAMA II and III projects in the area.
He said FADAMA has not only made the users proactive but proved to be a sustainable panacea to poverty and hunger.
The LG boss noted that the scheme has provided succour via rural finance and also empowered communities to take charge of their development agenda.
The Imo State FADAMA coordinator, Hon. Enwerem explained that FADAMA was derived from a Hausa name for irrigable low-lying plains and was tailored with the objective to increase the income of FADAMA users – farmers, pastoralists, fishers, hunters, gatherers and service providers.
