A 40-year-old man, Azeez Ali, who was said to be impersonating a soldier, has been arrested allegedly for attempted murder.

Ali, who had allegedly identified himself as a naval personnel, was later discovered to be an impostor.

The police said the suspect was arrested after he allegedly chopped off the penis of a 42-year-old man identified as Sunday Amao over a minor disagreement.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said that on March 14, 2020 at about 1.30pm, operatives from the Bariga police station arrested Ali, of No. 5, Morgan Way, Igando Ikotun road, Lagos.

Elkana alleged that the suspect, impersonating a naval officer, used a military jack knife to cut the penis of one Sunday Amao, 42, of No. 27, Community Street, Oworoshoki.

“The victim was taken to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and is responding to treatment. Investigation is on-going. The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded,” he added.
