A fake Army colonel who identified himself as Farouk Aliyu has been arrested by the Police in Ondo state for alleged impersonation and stealing  a Toyota jeep.

The suspect who was trailed and arrested in Kogi state last week according to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Femi Joseph had disappeared with the Jeep from a mechanic workshop in Ondo town.

The suspect, whose real name was given as Abubakar Aliyu, had gone to the mechanic workshop in army camouflage  T shirt at Oka Ondo  with a Peugeot 406 salon car with registration number Lagos SMK (27 AGL black colour for  repair.

He was said to have shown interest in a Toyota Sequia Jeep with Reg. No. AGL 230 EH displayed for sale in the workshop and told  them that he wanted to buy it.

The jeep was said to have been negotiated for N1.2million.

Joseph said the suspect then took the vehicle for test run and withdrawal of money to pay but went away with the jeep and abandoned the Peugeot 406 saloon car he brought.

During investigation, he said he was tracked down with the vehicle at Gegu Beki in Kogi State and was arrested.

He, however, said that investigation was still going on to locate the owner of the Peugeot 406 which is suspected to have been stolen too.
