Two men who were allegedly parading themselves as a soldier and a policeman have been arrested, alongside 25 other suspects, by the police in Ogun State.

The state Commissioner of Police, Illiyasu Ahmed, while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran, said the duo of Ibrahim Ahmed and Ali Audu were arrested on February 17, 2018, at 3.30pm by the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 16 while on routine patrol along the Lagos/Ibadan Road.

“They were accosted at the Sagamu interchange putting on Nigerian Army camouflage and Nigeria Police uniform. On sighting the police, the two men took to their heels; they were hotly chased and arrested,” Ahmed said.

But, in a chat with newsmen, the suspected fake soldier said he only retired five months ago as a warrant officer.

“I retired about five months ago, and because I am yet to get my gratuity, I am only using the uniform to escort goods from Lagos to Abeokuta,” he said.

In another arrest, the command burst a robbery syndicate, whose modus operandi is hijacking of motorcycles along Atan/Ota/Idiroko area. 

“Their hideout was promptly stormed where two members of the gang were arrested. The two arrested suspects are Adeyemi Yemi and Segun Ikudaisi.

“Among exhibits recovered from them are one pump action gun, one locally made pistol, six live cartridges, some assorted charms and one Bajaj motorcycle,” the commissioner said.
