To set up today’s epic finals, the host country defeated South Korea 5-1, while the Falconets over powered hard fighting Colombia 1-0 courtesy of Ebere Orji strike which came early in the match.

Playing against the Germans today, the Falconets will not only be eyeing the coveted trophy, but a revenge of the defeat which inflicted on them by the same Germans in 2004.

In the 2004 quarter-final, Germany grabbed an 86th-minute equaliser from Anja Mittag to force extra-time and she also scored the fifth and decisive penalty, with Nigeria missing one of their kicks.

“A victory on Sunday will be a soothing relief for us” Assistant Coach Wemimo said, “because they would have paid for the sins of their 2008 Olympic squad”.

“We will beat them convincingly before their home crowd” a confident NFF Official, Mr. James Peters said, adding “we are not daunted by the home support they will have, nor by their wide margin semi-final victory over Korea”.

“Our girls have been playing to instructions and they will sustain this tempo in the last match as well”, the Assistant General Secretary (Technical) remarked.
