The reigning African champions defeated their Zimbabwean opposites, the Mighty Warriors 4-0 in the final fixture of the biennial football event decided at the Teslim Balogun stadium, Lagos on Saturday.

Falcons had won the first fixture in Harare 2-0 a fortnight ago to bring the aggregate score to 6-0.

The persistent attack at their opponents vital area was rewarded at the sixth minute when striker and reigning African footballer of the year, Perpetua Nkwocha scored the opener.

The Zimbabwean backline were not to hold on for too long as Oparanozie brush off the opposition’s defenders to score the second goal in the 14th minute.

Two minutes later, workaholic striker, Esther Sunday made it three goals to end the first 45th minute.

On resumption of play, Zimbabwe pulled out Ruvimbo Mutyavaviri for Sheila Makoto to strengthen their attack but it was the Nigerians that profited from the change as Stella Mbachu’s grounder beat on rushing Zimbabwean shot stopper for Falcons’ fourth goal in the 55th minute.
