Football fans who thought Falcons would feast on Lionesses were utterly disappointed as the home side failed to score in the first 45 minutes of the match.

The second half presented even more agonizing time for the fans as they waited till the 65th minute to celebrate the first goal scored by striker, Perpetua Nkwocha from the penalty spot.

Former U-20 star, Ebere Orji increased the tally to two in the 76th minute but when it appeared the Nigerian side was coasting home with a 2-0 victory, tragedy struck two minutes from regulation time when Osinachi Ohale scored an own goal.

The own goal handed Lionesses an important away goal.

With the result, Falcons would need hard work and bit of luck to qualify for the Olympics when they visit the Lionesses in the second leg October 26.

It will be recalled that Falcons failed to qualify for the All Africa Games when they drew 1-1 against the Black Queens of Ghana sin Abuja and lost the return leg 2-1 in Accra.
