Families of seven persons who were kidnapped over two weeks ago along the Abuja–Offa highway near Osi and Obbo Aiyegunle in Kwara State, have lamented the plight of the victims who are still in the den of their abductors more than two weeks after the incident.

They are appealing to the state government, House of Assembly, traditional rulers as well as well-meaning individuals to assist in efforts to secure the release of their loved ones.

The victims, who are men and women returning from Abuja to Offa, were abducted by gunmen on Saturday, April 19, 2025 and have remained in the custody of their captors.

Speaking on the issue, a source who is very conversant with the development told Daily Trust that the victims have been subjected to serious hardship without regaining their freedom despite efforts.

“As we speak, the seven victims are still with their abductors and there is a 60-year-old woman among them who can no longer walk because of the stress they have been subjected to, moving from one place to another inside the forest and we fear her condition will deteriorate.

“Security operatives have advised us to go and pay the ransom and while we have solicited for assistance from all kind hearted people, we beseech Almighty Allah to intervene in their release”, the source said.

Meanwhile, a statement sent to Daily Trust issued by Mr Rasaq Olayinka Jimoh on behalf of the affected families, expressed deep concern over the prolonged detention of their relatives in the hands of their abductors.

“This appeal became necessary as our relatives are now two weeks in the hands of their abductors. We are suffering in agony.

“The two captives kidnapped after ours have regained freedom but all the efforts made so far have not yet yielded result,” he said.

The statement lamented the emotional, psychological, and financial toll the incident has taken on families, stating that, “Families have been suffering since the beginning of the sad event.”
