The Ogun State government yesterday compensated the family of a member of the state-owned security outfit, Vigilante Service Organisation (VSO), Kehinde Odumosu, who was killed during an encounter with a robbery gang at the Ayetoro area of Abeokuta North Local Government in May 2017.

 The family, represented by Mujidat Ahmed, was presented with a cheque of N500,000 by the Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, at the ministry’s auditorium, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

 Ojuko said the gesture was part of the state government’s effort to reduce the pains of

the Odumosu family for the loss of their dear son. 

 “He died in active service. Though he is no more, we have to, as a responsive government, do something to reduce the pain the family members are going through over his demise.

 “The state governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, has graciously approved this for the family and it is my belief that it will go to necessary areas needed. If there are children or wife or both parents still alive, please let us ensure we get them something that the late officer would have done for them,” he said.

 The state commander of the VSO, Soji Ganzallo, recalled that the armed robbers killed the late Odumosu as he courageously engaged them in a gun battle during their operation at a filling station along the Ayetoro road.
