When news of the death of Aisha IdrisDankano broke, Kannywood literally stood still. Many of her colleagues had to abandon various movie locations for the deceased’s home to pay their last respect.
Dankano’s death came as a blow to Kannywood owing to the fact that the industry had just finished mourning the death of  Hafsat Sharada known in the industry as Mai Aya.
The actress died last Tuesday after a brief illness at her home in Kano at the age of 37. Sources close to the family revealed that the actress was ill for about a month.
Daily Trust on Saturday learnt that Aisha had begun to show signs of recovery only to give up a few days later. “She was sick for about a month, and the sickness deteriorated that she couldn’t even walk. She later began to show signs of recovery, but gave up on Tuesday 23rd February 2016,” narrated the source.
The late Aisha, a mother of four, showed her ability to bring to life every movie she starred in, which earned her a lot of fans and followership. She was famous for her various valiant roles and was also popular for her versatility in interpreting roles.
The late Dankano won last year’s MTN/Kannywood award as the ‘best valiant actress’.
The Director General of Kano State Censorship Board,MalamSama’ila Naabbah Afakallahu, said “Late A’isha has been a strong pillar in this industry and her exit has indeed created a vacuum that I don’t think can be filled. We have lived with her in the industry and her contribution to the development of the industry cannot be quantified. I pray Allah to forgive all her misdoing and to grant her eternal peace; I also pray that paradise should be her final abode.”
Fatima Disa aka Fati Asirka described late Dankano as a great actress who had been a sister to virtually all actresses and also a source of inspiration to upcoming artists. “A’isha never looked down on anybody for any reason, she treated us equally and we see her as a big sister.”
A’isha’s first daughter Zainab could not say a word as she was being consoled by friends and relatives. It was gathered that her wedding was slated for March this year.
The Public Relations Officer of Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN), Balarabe Murtala Muhammed Bahru, described the death of Dankano as a great loss to humanity, adding that the history of Kannywood would never be complete without mentioning the contributions of late A’isha Dankano.
Bahru, who also prayed for the repose of her soul, called on Kannywood practitioners to join in praying for the late A’isha.
She has since been buried at Kofar Mazugal Cemetery according to Islamic rite. A’isha left behind three daughters and one son.
