Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) Friday, re-arrested Femi Fani-Kayode at the premises of a Federal High Court inLagos.

The former aviation minister is currently facing trial alongside Nenadi Usman, a former finance minister over N4.9b money laundering charge.

EFCC had arraigned Fani-Kayode, Usman and one Danjuma Yusuf on 17 counts charge of unlawful retention, unlawful use and payment of the said amount.

They had however pleaded not guilty and were granted bail by the presiding judge, Justice Sule Muslim Hassan.

Soon after Fani-Kayode who was at the court for continuation of his trial, stepped out of the court room he was arrested by two operatives of the anti- graft commission who told him to follow them.

The former Director of Media and Publicity of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign during the 2015 elections was taken away from the court in a Toyota Hiace bus. 

Meanwhile, when the case was mentioned yesterday, EFCC prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo opened the case for prosecution and called in the first witness who is a media consultant.

Leading in evidence, the witness, Mr. Idowu  Olusegun told the court that N30m was paid in cash to him, by the office of the PDP campaign organization. 

According to the witness, he had reached an agreement with the organization at their office located at 14B, Samora Michael Avenue, Asokoro, Abuja for the sum ofN24m for media consultancy services.

Olusegun told the court that he did printing job for the posters and flyers for the organization and was paid N30 million in cash.

He told the court that he had demanded to know why payments was made in cash, and was informed by one Mr. Oke, that cash was the approved means of payment.

The witness also told the court that apart from the N30 million paid to him, there is also an outstanding payment of N24 million which was not paid to his company.

The matter has been adjourned till November 14 and 15 for continuation of trial.
