Armed attackers have reportedly killed one farmer and left two women with serious injuries at Tse Akor Gbatse village in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Witnesses said that the incident, which occurred around 11:45 am on Saturday, happened near the “Thank You Suswam” Primary School, a few meters from Daudu town along the Daudu–Lafia road.

The victim, identified as Tachia Akor, was shot dead, while his wife and Mrs. Mbagbedi Tsetim sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Daudu.

The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Daudu morgue.

Witnesses feared that there might be further casualties, as several other farmers are missing following the attack.

The locals called on security forces to launch immediate operations to flush out the attackers and secure villages along the Guma–Nasarawa border.

Police spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, confirmed the attack, saying personnel had been deployed to the area and an that investigation is ongoing.
