A magistrate court in Makurdi, on Wednesday, ordered that a 29-year-old farmer, Akule Terdoo,  charged with alleged armed robbery, be remanded in prison, pending legal advice.

Magistrate Ajuma Igama, who did not take the plea of Terdoo for want in jurisdiction, adjourned the case until Sept 6, for further mention.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Sgt. Ato Godwin, told the court that the case was reported by the complainant, Tertema Bako, who resides in Mbazage village, Buruku LGA, Benue.

Ato alleged that Terdoo attacked Bako on his way from his father-in-law’s burial at Mbazage village.

He said Terdoo and others at large stole his motorcycle and N2,500 at gun point.

Ato alleged that the suspect and his accomplices have been terrorising residents of Buruku.

The offence, he said, contravened sections 6(b), 3(1) and 1(1)(2) (a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provisions Act 2004. (NAN)
