No fewer than 12 persons were reportedly murdered in clashes between suspected Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Nasarawa State.
The farmers and herders clash reportedly happened for two days at Tattara Mada, Migini and Angwan Barau communities in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Investigation by our correspondent indicated that scores of houses and property worth millions of naira belonging to the locals were also burnt during the attacks which commenced last Sunday night.
Daily Trust Saturday also learnt that the crisis erupted when a Fulani lad, allegedly led his herds and destroyed a sugarcane plantation and when the owners saw him, they beat him to stupor.

It was gathered that the Fulani boy managed to take the cattle back to their settlement (ruga) and narrated the incident to his parents who resorted to giving home treatment, but the boy died, which caused the Fulani to carry out a reprisal attack, leading to loss of lives.
Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Nasarawa State Command, DSP Nanham Nansel, who confirmed the incident, however, said that the figures on the social media is exaggerated.
Meanwhile, Gov Abdullahi Sule, while playing host to the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Sallah homage in his village in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area of the state, lamented that Tattara-Mada village had been destroyed due to communal crisis.
