Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Agriculture Insurance Company, NAIC, Mr. Bode Opadokun stated this at the launch of the book titled: “Agricultural Finance: A practical approach for lenders and entrepreneurs” written by a top banker, Mr. Isaac Abolade Agbola.
Opadokun, who represented the minister for agriculture Dr. Akinwumu Adesina lamented the cold attitude of farmers, especially the small scale farmer, to insurance practice.
The minister said that many farmers were put out of business immediately they suffered any form of disaster due to lack of insurance cover.
He stressed the need for both small and large scale farmers to imbibe the habit of insuring their business.
According to the minister, insurance, if embraced, would keep the farmers in business regardless of any disaster that may befall their agricultural activities.
