Jukun Development Association of Nigeria has expressed regret that farming activities have been at a near standstill for over four years in Southern and Central Taraba and many  states in North Central zone.
National president of the association, Mr. Benjamin Bako who spoke during a world press conference in Lagos, attributed the development to attacks allegedly perpetrated by some mercenaries.
He warned of impending food scarcity in the region following attacks on farmers in the north central states.
He said government should demonstrate concern and reassure the northern minority people of their safety and security especially to enable them carry out their farming activities.
He pointed out that hundreds of thousands of cows currently occupy destroyed homes and farmlands belonging to people of Southern and Central Taraba and of  many states in North Central zone so that indigenous population could not return to their homes.
“In the last four to five years, there has never been any meaningful agricultural activity taking place in the whole of these areas leaving whole populations hungry, displaced and impoverished,” he said.
