Former Kebbi State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman, Mansir Shehu, has expressed regret for going into politics rather than farming. 
Shehu, one of the then PDP governorship aspirants, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), said farming is better than politics.
He described the government of President Muhammadu Buhari as one that is all out to bring about change into farming, which posture has made state governments to encourage people to go back to farming.
“Honestly, I have big regret for going into politics instead of farming because I know if I had gone into farming I would have gone very far by now. But, there is no problem, whatever God has destined is what shall be. I think it is still not too late because by the grace of God, with prayers, with commitment, I think the sky is the limit for Nigerians in the agricultural sector,” he said.
Mansir said agriculture offers great opportunity for Nigerians, adding that, “there is a lot of money in agriculture, one will only know if one ventures into farming, which is enough to make somebody comfortable.”
He said though government is yet to release its package for farmers, “it will be too early to make a conclusive remark on the recent Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) borrower programme launched by President Muhammadu Buhari in Kebbi because it has just started and a lot of things have not gotten to the farmers yet.”
