The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has inaugurated the 150 housing units built in Gombe State and financed by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN).

The minister said the Federal Government has introduced the Housing Cooperative Development Scheme which aimed to make housing more affordable and accessible to all Nigerians.

He said that the idea is for people acquire their own lands, organise themselves into registered cooperatives and get titles of the land from their respective state governments.

Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya said his administration is committed to the provision of shelter to the people of the state, saying has keyed into the National Housing Fund while sustaining deductions from beneficiaries through the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

The Managing Director of the FMBN, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, described the inauguration of the 150 house comprising of 62 units of 3-bedrooms detached and 82 units of 2-bedroom detached bungalows, as an affirmation that the National Housing Fund (NFH) scheme is meeting its mandate of delivering decent and affordable houses to low income earners.
