The distribution of the cars to the principals is under the first phase of the plan by the state government to give cars to all principals of secondary schools in the state.

There was great joy as the principals received the cars from the Head of Service, Mr Yakub Balogun at the handing over ceremony at the State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Thursday.

According to the HOS, the administration of Fashola saw the need to take care of the welfare of Public Servants, adding that, “it is as a result of this that the cars are being given to teachers.”

He disclosed that this was the first batch of presentation of official cars to principals in Lagos State, saying that the vehicles were meant to aid beneficiaries to discharge their duties effectively.

Balogun told the beneficiaries that after a period of four years they would become owners of the cars, while encouraging others to be diligent and dedicated towards their duty.

Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated that giving of official cars to deserving principals was one of the components of welfare which the Fashola administration was pursuing.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Margaret Akinroye, who had been in the teaching profession for 31 years, said when she received a call asking her to report to Alausa the next day to pick up a car, she could not believe it.
