Fashola launches building energy efficiency guidelines

As part of measures to include energy efficiency into the National Building Code, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Thursday, launched the Building Energy Efficiency Guidelines.
The minster said that the guide should be a handbook for all professionals in the built environment, which include architects, engineers, builders, quantity surveyors and town planners, to enable them come up with the realities of energy efficiency in buildings.
 He said the ministry would  embark on advocacy campaign to create awareness on the importance of generating alternative sources of energy which could cumulatively lead to increase in the nation’s existing source of energy that would in turn help the federal government achieve its vision of providing uninterrupted supply of energy to the citizenry. 
He commended the efforts of the ministerial committee for developing the document and urged them to ensure that the knowledge is passed on to the public including the academia.
