Father of 4 remanded for raping teenager in Ondo

A magistrates’ court in Akure, Ondo State, has remanded a commercial motorcyclist, Michael Olorunfemi (30), in prison over allegedly raping a teenage girl.

The prosecutor, Taiwo Oniyere, told the court that the defendant, a father of four children, forcefully had sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old girl contrary to Sections 357 and 358 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.

In a statement of the defendant before the police, a copy of which was read before the court, the defendant said: “I had sexual intercourse with the victim in the bush.

“The victim approached me to take her to her boyfriend’s house and on our way I stopped near a bush and raped her. I promised to give her money, which I did not. She then reported me to her mother.”

The Magistrate, Kolawole Aro, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison and adjourned the case to October 31, 2024.
