Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Gombe State have arrested a 48-year-old man, Ibrahim Haruna, and his 15-year-old son, Abdullahi Ibrahim, over allegations of raping a 13-year-old girl.

The suspects, who reside in the Jekadafari quarters in Gombe Local Government Area, were paraded at the state command headquarters on Monday.

Speaking on behalf of the State Commandant, Idris Jibrin, the Public Relations Officer of the command, SC Buhari Sa’ad, said the two suspects allegedly committed the offense at different times.

According to Sa’ad, Haruna, a tailor, was accused of sexually assaulting the girl in his shop, while his son allegedly committed the act within their residential compound.

He said investigations into the matter had been concluded and that the suspects would be charged to court soon.

When questioned by journalists, Haruna denied the allegation, claiming he only touched the girl playfully and did not rape her.

The NSCDC said the identity of the victim has been withheld to protect her privacy, in line with child protection protocols
