The Edo State Security Corps has arrested a father, his son, and one other suspect over the alleged kidnapping of a farmer in Edo State.

The suspects allegedly kidnapped the farmer in the Igueo-Izakagbon community, located in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state, and whisked him into a nearby forest.

Following the abduction, operatives of the Edo State Security Corps mobilized for a bush-combing exercise in search of the victim.

Sources stated that while the Corps was combing the forest to rescue the victim unhurt, a ransom was negotiated and paid, which secured the victim’s release.

Despite the release, the Corps continued its investigation into the kidnapping, which eventually led to the arrest of the three suspects, including a man and his son.

It was learned that following the arrests, the victim identified one of the suspects as the individual who shot him while he was in captivity.

The Corps’ Deputy Commander, Richard Balogun, confirmed the incident, stating that the Corps remains committed to combing forests to arrest criminals and rescue kidnapped victims.

“Yesterday, we arrested three suspected kidnappers. There have been a series of kidnappings in that area. The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution,” Balogun said.

He added, “The victim positively identified one of the suspects as the person who shot him while he was held in captivity.”
