A Katsina magistrate court was yesterday told how a 65-year-old man and his 19-year-old son allegedly connived, lured and defiled a 9-year-old neighbour’s daughter.

A police first information report read in court said the victim’s mother reported the incident at Safana police division that led to the arrest of the suspects, Lawal Angala and Isah Angala.

The accused persons were said to have lured the victim into Lawal’s room on May 2, where they allegedly severally sexually abused her in Safana town.

The police prosecuting officer, Inspector Sani Ado, said the accused are being charged with rape contrary to Section 283 of penal code.

He pleaded for more time to enable the police further investigate the matter as investigation was still on going.

In her ruling, the presiding magistrate, Fadilla Dikko, said the matter was only brought for mention as the court had no jurisdiction to entertain rape cases.

She then adjourned the matter to June 14 when the case shall come up with the hope that legal advice would have been received from the Ministry of Justice.

She ordered that the accused persons to be remanded in prison till then.
