The Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, has expressed anger that his predecessor, Mr Ayodele Fayose,  abandoned the Ikogosi Resort Centre to decay.

Fayemi described the abandonment of the tourist centre, which he described as a major tourist attraction in the country, as “a flagrant and brazen destruction of Ekiti’s heritage.”

The governor bared his mind in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Ekiti West local government, when he inspected the facilities at the Ikogosi Warm Spring, which is a confluence of warm and cold spring.

Fayemi said it was wrong for the Fayose government to have abandoned the warm spring site, and consequently chasing out Gossy bottled water which was being produced there, on the guise that it was his predecessor that conceived the project.

The governor assured the Ekiti people that the Gossy water project, owned by the United Africa Company would be brought back. “Gossy Water is associated with Ekiti. It is a brand that was known to belong and part of Ekiti. Wherever you see the water, you will think of Ikogosi Warm Spring, so we are going to bring it back to life.

“Apart from the fact that the facilities in this resort had been damaged, the roads to this place are impassable, particularly the Aramoko-Erinjiyan-Ikogosi road. Half of the 110 rooms in this resort are not habitable. This is unacceptable to us,” he said.
