The FCT chapter chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Joseph K. Shazin, has called on members of the legislative arm of Abaji Area Council to cooperate with the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya.
City News learnt that there was an impasse between members of the legislature and the council chairman recently as a result of which they attempted to suspend the chairman but party stakeholders quickly intervened.
Shazin, who is also the chairman of Kwali Area Council, addressed newsmen shortly after he led his Kuje, Gwagwalada, AMAC and Bwari counterparts for a closed door meeting which lasted for over four hours at the chairman’s office in Abaji on Tuesday.
He said in a democratic setting, there was bound to be misunderstanding between the legislature and the executive, but noted that how amicably such faceoff were resolved was important.
He said there was no need for the executive and the legislature to give room for crisis to fester and destroy their working relationship.
The ALGON chairman commended the party executives and stakeholders for their efforts in resolving the faceoff without allowing it to escalate.
