The FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT-CPWB) has begun the screening process for 250 individuals planning to embark on a pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan.
Gloria Dandam, Director of FCT-CPWB, said at the screening exercise in Abuja on Tuesday that the purpose of the screening is to prepare the intending pilgrims for the trip, scheduled for August and September 2025.
Dandam explained that the screening, conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) will determine the eligibility of all applicants for the holy pilgrimage.
She emphasized that intending pilgrims must successfully complete all screening stages before being permitted to pay for the trip, ensuring full compliance with the board’s rules and regulations.

The board said a pre-visit to Israel confirmed a peaceful environment, guaranteeing the safety and security of Nigerian pilgrims and officials.
It also specified that only sites within designated safe zones will be visited.
“We are having our screening today, our mop-up, because we’ve done the main screening. This is the second one, and our trip is supposed to be in August-September,” Dandam said. “We might be the second group to leave, so we need to conclude today so we can forward our list to NCPC for visa issuance. That’s what we are doing today.
“For the first batch, we screened 140 candidates. Most of them are private. Then today we are screening 110.”
Dandam added that “Those recommended for the trip will receive messages to make their payments, which allowing us to finalize everything and send it all to the NCPC.”
