With the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections fast approaching, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed confidence in its ability to make a strong showing at the polls, citing growing grassroots support and a rising number of new members.

Speaking shortly after commissioning the party’s new secretariat in Kwali, former National Organizing Secretary of ADC, Alhaji Ibrahim Suleiman, said the party is positioned to compete effectively in the elections.

“Our candidate is equal to the task. We are confident in his capacity and experience to deliver,” Suleiman stated.

He disclosed that over 2,000 new members had recently joined the ADC in Kwali from various political platforms, describing it as a sign of the momentum the party is gathering.

“For the mere fact that the candidate has a niche for himself by doing a lot of empowerment and by virtue of his pedigree and antecedent in grassroots politics, that has given us the strength. I am passionately appealing to residents to support ADC so that they can experience the true dividends of democracy,” Suleiman added.

The ADC Chairmanship candidate for Kwali Area Council, Jeremiah Bandoji, pledged to focus on development projects if elected. He highlighted areas such as infrastructure, markets, garages, industries, and educational institutions as key priorities.

“I believe in creativity and in studying society to provide what the people need. If I am given the opportunity to serve, I will work to ensure that Kwali has standard facilities and institutions that will improve lives,” Bandoji said.

He further described ADC as a platform for visionary leadership, adding that young people are increasingly drawn to competence and new ideas.

“ADC represents a new face for Nigeria. The youth believe in innovation, in leaders who can discover and nurture potential. That is what we are offering,” he noted.

Also speaking, the ADC Chairman in Kwali, Chukwuemeka Amoni, said the party’s focus would be on grassroots mobilization, enlightenment, and voter engagement.

“Our party is ready to bring positive change to Kwali Area Council. We are committed to policies that will uplift communities and ensure inclusive development,” Amoni stated.

Deputy Chairperson of Kwali ADC, Martha Etsu, appealed to residents to support candidates based on competence and vision rather than temporary gains.

“My advice to the electorate is to focus on capability. Among the six area councils, Kwali deserves to be at par with others in terms of development. We believe ADC has the right team to make this happen,” she said.

Party leaders reaffirmed their commitment to grassroots-driven campaigns as the countdown to the FCT Council polls intensifies.
