The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will today publish the list of nominated candidates for the 2019 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections.

The publication was announced by the secretary to the commission, Augusta C. Ogakwu.

The Electoral Act provides at least 30 days before the election for the list of the candidates to be published.

Also, the submission of names of party agents for the election to the electoral officer of area councils starts on February 16.

The chairmanship and councillorship elections in the FCT, according to the schedule, are billed to hold on March 2, while political campaigns end on 28 February 2019.
