Speaking to Trustsports yesterday, the aspirant who represents the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, on the present board said having spent over four years as the vice-chairman of the FA and participated actively in the resuscitation of the association, he has acquired the pre-requisite experience to administer the game in the territory.

He said before the out-going board took over the administration of the game in the FCT, football activities in the territory were at the lowest ebb as issues of insecurity and poor administration kept spectators away.

Karshi said if elected, he would build on the solid foundation already laid by the present board to take football in the FCT to greater heights.

He said he would give priority attention to grassroots football development with greater emphasis on football competitions at the primary, secondary and tertiary institutions levels.

The aspirant said the future of the game is with the youths and if elected, the youths will have access to regular competitions which would keep them permanently off social vices.

“Among those who are interested in contesting for the chairmanship position, I am the most qualified. I have garnered enough experience having been the Vice-chairman for more than four years now.

“I want to continue with the good programmes of the present board. If elected, I will take football down to the grassroots by ensuring that competitions are organized regularly for youth clubs in the territory. I will revive competitions at the school level and ensure hidden talents in all the Area Councils are discovered”, he pledged.

He said sponsorship for his programmes would not pose a serious challenge because the present board has already established contacts with the relevant corporate organizations and what is required of him is to sustain the relationships.

Karshi therefore called on all well meaning football stakeholders in the territory to join hands with him for the development of the game of football.

The aspirant expressed confidence that with the support of his colleagues on the board, he would have no problem clinching the chairmanship position of Abuja FA.
