The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) athletes have continued to make their presence felt at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, with outstanding performances in golf bringing pride to the contingent.

Leading the charge was Omowonuola Olanrewaju, who impressed spectators and officials alike with her consistency and determination on the course.

Olanrewaju claimed gold in the girls’ stroke play event, displaying composure and technical precision to outclass her opponents. She went further to add a silver medal in the girls’ stableford competition, proving her versatility across formats.

Her teammate, Josephine Benjamin, also delivered standout performances that boosted the FCT medal haul. Benjamin etched her name in the tournament’s history for the team by winning gold in the eclectic event, which also happened to be FCT’s golfers first medal of the games.

The young golfer added another feather to her cap with a silver medal in the girls’ match play, showcasing resilience and tactical awareness throughout her rounds.

The achievements of the two golfers have not only lifted the morale of the FCT delegation but also highlighted the growing impact of golf among young athletes in the capital.
