FCT Minister Senator Bala Mohammed is aware of this fact and using FCT land as resources for infrastructure development; he has also shown that the new strategy which is dubbed “phase IV Transformation Agenda Project”, is ardently a property development structure based on the remarkable fact that the FCT Administration is working in partnership with the private sector to convey qualitative houses with key infrastructures to Greenfield districts established on the Federal Government’s transformation agenda.
Accordingly, the Federal Capital Territory administration (FCTA) using its power under the Land Use Act, will grant land to investors for real property development and in return, the investors will provide detailed infrastructures in the affected district. As a result of this, a framework has already been established to avoid any form of land conjecture, land freezing and distortion of the Abuja Master Plan during the implementation of the scheme.
The minister is categorical that his administration will ensure that the execution of work is done in strict adherence to the standard of work set by the Federal Capital Territory (FCDA).
In the area of opening of districts, the FCT Minister has commenced with the opening of five districts (Jahi, Guzape, Maitama Extension, Kagini and Wuye districts) in an unprecedented manner; provision of infrastructure for three of these districts will be carried out by a Private Public Partnership Initiative arrangement. This enumerated systems (Land Swap Deal and Opening of Districts by PPPI) will safeguard the fast-tracked development of the FCT, it will also ensure that the problems of paucity of funds, burden on the infrastructures in the existing districts in the FCT is drastically reduced and the ever rising population is evenly spread when the new districts are completed.
What these (“Land Swap Initiative” and Unprecedented Opening of Five (5) Districts) portend is a sturdy rise in cash flowto the FCT through commercial/institutional activities and a resourceful tendency for job creation which is put at a conservative 150,000 jobs. This is centred on the simple fact that jobs will be created from the various stages of developmental activities/work on the new districts and land opportunity.
Abuja is a city under transformation; basically a city where projects and programmes abound to create jobs for artisans, craftsmen, skilled persons and fundamentally people throng to the FCT to procure jobs to do.
In view of this, the FCT Administration may not be able to quantify the level of employment it is directly providing; I personally share the view that Senator Bala Mohammed has made a helpful contribution in creating employment in the FCT based on the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.
The FCT Administration is also posed with the challenges of the movement and occupation of these persons within the city, this is as a result of the fact that these persons that newly procure jobs through Bala’s inventiveness must reside in the city and the current administration too must deal with the fact as a result of these persons being Nigerians; they view the new initiatives as job prospects, while the FCTA views them as social development problems.
Under Senator Bala Mohammed, the FCT is witnessing accelerated development for the benefit of its residents and visitors alike, in apparition of its founding fathers.
