FCT minister assures corps members of security, welfare

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Alh. Muhammad Bello has assured corps members that his administration will do all it takes to provide security and welfare for them as they serve in the territory.

Speaking, yesterday, in Abuja at the swearing in ceremony of the 2018 Batch C stream 2 corps members in the FCT, he said machineries had been put in place in both human and material resources to deal with any challenging situation.

Represented by the Director, Administration and Finance, FCT, Social Development, Hajiya Safiya Umar, the minister called on the corps members to take every aspect of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) programme seriously while in camp as that would help them become self-reliant after their service year rather than become job seekers.

He urged them to be law abiding and patriotic while reminding them that they were expected to preach peace and unity anywhere they found themselves as that was the major motive of the scheme.

On his part, the FCT coordinator, Mr. Bulama Bello, announced that a total of 2,448 corps members were registered for the FCT orientation course.

He said so far, the corps members have exhibited responsibility and discipline since they resumed and urged them to take every activity in the camp seriously as that would help sharpen them for the rest of their service year and their future.
