The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has assured that the Apo-Karshi Road will be completed.
The minister who undertook a tour of the road and other projects in Wassa District at the weekend, received briefs from the project contractors, as well as the site engineers and other relevant personnel.
According to a statement by the minister’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Anthony Ogunleye, the acting Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Engr Felix Nwankwo, said a greater proportion of the work had been completed and that with the release of funds by the FCTA, completion of the entire project was imminent.
Nwanko explained that the road was being constructed in two sections by two contractors.
“The active area we are dealing with now is one kilometre, which is the hill portion. We are reducing the hill and then filling the two locations of the valley to raise it up to the required profile. That’s what the contractor is currently doing. It’s a massive work because it requires a lot of earthwork,” he said.
He also revealed that the second section of the road, which was being constructed as a part of the Karshi Waterworks Project, which was equally on-going.
Malam Bello, therefore, charged the contractors and FCTA officials to ensure that good quality work, for which the FCT was known, was delivered.
