The FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, has commissioned the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) signage production plant in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

The minister, while performing the ceremony on Monday, said the benefits of the new signage plant were immense, explaining that it would create jobs for residents of the area and also enhance the industrial profile of the host community.

He said the FCT administration was delighted over the traffic sign plant and had started patronizing it even before it was commissioned.

He noted that the road traffic signs would complement the administration’s desire to ensure that all roads within the city were properly marked as it used to be in the past.

“I want to use this medium to commend the road safety board as well as the management for the efforts being made to provide modern technology and other items to guarantee more safety on roads,” he said.

The FRSC corps marshal /chief executive, Boboye Oyeyemi, said road traffic signs were major components of road network which enhance communication between the road and the users.

He said road signs provide warning against impending dangers, guide and give information on how to use the road safely.

He added that signs were expected to be free from any form of ambiguity in terms of interpretation and understanding of the messages they convey.
