FCT minister reinstates sacked AEPB director

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has reinstated Baba Shehu Lawan, the sacked director of Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB).

Lawan and his team have resumed their duties at the AEPB office according to a statement by the board’s public relations officer, Muktar Ibrahim, yesterday.

Ibrahim said the acting director, Mrs Omolola Olanipekun, handed over to the reinstated director at a brief ceremony held at the board’s conference room on Friday.

Lawan was quoted to have said the returning team was not going to fight anybody but will “continue our work from where we left on a two-month assignment that later stretched into one and half years.”

He said the task ahead was not going to be an easy one and revealed that the FCT minister has charged the team to redouble efforts and improve upon the achievements of the outgoing acting director.

He therefore solicited the support of all and sundry.

Mrs Olanipekun returned to the Human Resources Department at the Federal Capital Territory Administration where she awaits further posting.

The minister had sacked Lawan and heads of divisions at the board in May and ordered a  special task force to recover millions of naira debt owed the board.
